  11. What are your file size recommendations for 35mm slides?

  12. We recommend a minimum file size of 1200x1800 pixels when making 35mm slides from digital files.

    • Because it's proportional to the 2x3 aspect ratio of a 35mm slide.
    • it's a manageable file size appropriate for online uploading
    • it provides a sufficient amount of digital information to make an excellent 35mm slide output.

At a size of 4x6 inches, 1200x1800 pixels is equivalent to 300dpi.

2732x4096 is the maximum that the film recorder can use. At a size of 4x6 inches, 2732x4096 pixels is equivalent to 682dpi. If you are anywhere in the middle between 1200x1800 and 2732x4096 pixels you are fine. We will automatically resample all your images to the maximum 2732x4096 resolution when we make your slides. We advise that you don't order slides from files smaller than 600x900 pixels.

  13. My digital image is not the same proportion (2x3) as a 35mm slide. Will my image be cropped when it is made into a 35mm slide?

  14. The iPrintfromHome.com system is designed to automatically add "black" around your image if it is not proportional to the 2x3 aspect ratio of a 35mm slide. However, if you want to do your own cropping, use a photo editing software program like Adobe Photoshop to crop your image using the 2x3 aspect ratio of a 35mm slide. Please click here for more information on how to best prepare your files when ordering 35mm slides.
