Vibrant paintings by Cuban-American artists highlight January exhibit
Three of the top Cuban-American artists in the United States will exhibit their colorful, expressive paintings at The Gallery at Eissey Campus from Jan. 9 to Feb. 17. The opening reception is Jan. 10 from 5 – 8 p.m.
Born in Havana, Cesar Garcia was influenced by his Cuban uncle who studied at the world-renown San Alejandro Academy of Arts. His work is of a figurative nature in a surrealistic style that expresses Afro-Cuban figures and Spanish heritage.
Sergio Garcia, who has been an exile in Miami since 1969, paints work that expresses bicultural realities, social and political environments, the human condition and personal identity. His paintings are in galleries around the country and in numerous corporate and private collections here and abroad.
Monica Arche, who also lives in Miami, paints compelling images that can be viewed with diverse interpretations. She follows the artistic tradition of her famous Cuban grandfather, Jorge Arche, and her great uncle, Aristides Fernandez, also a famous Cuban painter and poet.
The Gallery at Eissey Campus is located on the first floor of the BB Building at PBCC in Palm Beach Gardens, 3160 PGA Blvd. Gallery hours are M-F 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. To find out more, call the gallery at (561) 207-5015.
