The Arts Work Program at Autistic Services, Inc.
What do you do?
The Arts Work Program gives people with Autism the opportunity to get involved in the visual (and performing) arts. Our mission is to create awareness of the extraordinary work being done by artists with Autism. Communication is one of the main challenges our participants face day-to-day; visual art provides them with a way to share their ideas and become a visible part of the community. Our artists participate in a full schedule of exhibitions and events throughout the year, culminating in our annual Arts Work Auction and Fundraiser in October. Over the past six years, we have been fortunate to exhibit our artists’ work at many galleries and venues including The Burchfield Penney Art Center Community Gallery, ArtSpace Buffalo, CEPA Gallery, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery Education Department, The Buffalo Public Library, Buffalo State Office of Exceptional Education, WNED’s Horizons Gallery, UB Center for the Arts, Asbury Hall at the Church, Music is Art Festival, Karpelle’s Manuscript Museum, Langston Hughes Institute, Impact Gallery, Partners in Art Gallery, and the Elmwood Festival of the Arts.
