How Fine Art Prints are Produced
  Additional Borders
The default setting for Giclee Fine Art Prints is to be produced with additional blank paper on all sides of the print so that you can easily handle, matte and stretch your prints.

By default, Somerset Velvet Giclee are produced with a 1" additional border on all sides of the print. Accordingly, if you order a 16x20 print, your digital file will be printed 16x20 on a piece of paper that is approximately 18x22 inches in size. Please note that we will provide "trim marks" in the corner of your print to mark the boundaries where your print should be trimmed or matted.

If you do not want the additional border and/or trim marks included in your prints, please change your border options on the "View/Edit Order" screen prior to moving to checkout.

To change your default Printing Preferences please click here or click on "My Account" above and then "Edit Printing Preferences".

We offer both stretched and unstretched Canvas Giclee Prints. If stretching is selected, we stretch our canvas Prints on wooden stretcher frames made up of 5/8” stretcher bars. Please note that the image does not wrap around the edge of the frame. At this time, edges are left white. Unstretched canvas prints are produced with 3" of additional canvas on all sides so that you can stretch and frame your print on your own.

Cropping Options
The default cropping option for Fine Art Prints is "Smart Fit". The "Smart Fit" method prints the entire image within the selected paper size, leaving any unfilled space blank. This method is especially popular when making prints of works of art, as the entire digital image is printed with no cropping whatsoever.

If you would rather we crop your image, please change your cropping option on the "View/Edit Order" screen prior to moving to checkout.

To change your default Printing Preferences please click here or click on "My Account" above and then "Edit Printing Preferences".
